EXAMPLE [1]
Subject: Returned mail: User unknown

This means that the user did not exist. The Mail server claims this name, notarealperson@firmname.com
is not a "known" user. You should unsubscribe notarealperson@firmname.com

host not found)

550 (person@notarealplace.com)... Host unknown (Name server:
notarealplace.com: host not found)
This means there is no "DNS" record for "notarealplace.com". You need to
check the address spelling of the domain name ("notarealplace").
EXAMPLE [3]
Subject: Returned mail: Local configuration error

553 dialup.oar.net config error: mail loops back to myself

This means that the receiving server has a minor misconfiguration. If
this happens, the list manager should contact us and remove the address
from the list. We will then have to send mail to their postmaster.
EXAMPLE [4]
thughes@zeus.tcp.co.uk... Deferred: Connection refused
by zeus.tcp.co.uk.
The host machine the list is trying to send mail to, (in this
case zeus.tcp.co.uk ) is not allowing people to send mail to it. This is
caused by a server misconfiguration (at THEIR end), or the machine is
off, out of order, or otherwise not functioning, and trying to bring
itself back to life. Leave the person on the list for 5 more of these
messages. If the problem has not cleared up by then, remove them.
To remove a person from the list, simply send a message to
listserv@mail.abanet.org:
delete listname userid@domain.ext User's Name
