Continuing the Dialogue: How to Use Starters

The suggested dialogue starters on this site are brief, easily read texts or images. Accompanying each starter is a set of focus questions designed to open discussion about the topic and related issues. The starters are intended to be thought provoking. They are designed to initiate and help foster discussion and ongoing dialogue among participants. Their use requires no preparation or study by participants in advance of the dialogue, although our suggested resources might be used for such a purpose. Each starter illuminates different issues and presents varying perspectives within the topic area. We have identified selected resources for each starter. (Starters are found on the Continuing the Dialogue page.)
