Robin M. Maher, Esq.
Director
Robin graduated from the University of Minnesota Law School where she was student article editor of the Journal of Law & Inequality. Prior to joining the ABA, Robin was in private practice, where she began working on death penalty cases as a volunteer lawyer. Robin has written and worked for many years on the death penalty, international human rights and gender issues. She is a frequent lecturer on the death penalty and the crisis of counsel.
Michele Meitl, Esq.
Staff Attorney
Michele graduated from Catholic University Law School. Prior to joining
the ABA, Michele served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Wendell
P. Gardner, Jr. in the felony division of the District of Columbia
Superior Court. While in law school she clerked at the Mental Health
Division of the District of Columbia’s Public Defenders Service.
David A. Grossman, Esq.
Staff Attorney
David graduated from New York University School of Law. Prior to joining the ABA, David clerked for two federal judges and then worked in private practice and in the City of Chicago's law department. While in private practice, David worked on numerous pro bono matters, including the Guantanamo Bay litigation and a federal habeas petition alleging ineffective assistance of counsel.
Katie Hughes
Project Assistant
Katie graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a degree in Political Science, pursuing a concentration in International Studies and a minor in Psychology. Prior to working with the ABA, Katie worked in Emergency Services with the American Red Cross as the Volunteer Development Coordinator where she also responded to local and national disasters, organized training and recognition events, and handled international tracing cases for refugees in her community.
