Meritorious Service Award


History of the Award

The SOC Meritorious Service Award, established in 1994, recognizes the important contributions ABA Sections, Divisions, and Forum committees make to the life and work of the ABA. The award is given to the Section, Division or Forum committee that has sponsored a program, project or other initiative past year that is of extraordinary benefit to the profession, the public and/or the Association. The award is presented at the Annual Meeting.


Award Procedures

The Nomination Process

Selection Criteria
The selection will be made on the basis of one program or project or a series of closely-related programs or projects sponsored by a Section, Division or Forum Committee.

Selection Guidelines
The deadline for submitting nominations is May 1, 2009. Your nomination should state:
  1. The name and title of the person making the nomination;
  2. The Section, Division, or Forum Committee being nominated;
  3. The specific program, project or initiative for which the nomiation is being made; and
  4. A brief description of the value or importance to the public, the profession and/or the Association of such program, project or initiative.
