2010 Midwinter Meeting

Dear Colleague:

Please join us in San Antonio, Texas for the 2010 Midwinter Meeting of the Employee Benefits Committee, February 3-6, 2010. You will have your pick of a huge variety of lively presentations covering the most recent and significant developments in employee benefits with national experts in their fields. Our CLE panels are practical, substantive and engaging, and present the perspectives of management, employee, union, in-house, government and academic counsel.

Our Committee prides itself on welcoming all sectors of the employment bar, and that is reflected both in our panels and our many networking events. Our substantive subcommittees cover a wide variety of issues, and you are welcome to join a subcommittee and become as involved as you like in our work. We guarantee that our meeting in San Antonio will be both stimulating and fun.  We look forward to a successful program and are pleased to offer you the following details.

Who We Are

The membership of this Committee has grown substantially in recent years, reflecting developments in the area of employee benefits law resulting from significant statutory, regulatory, and caselaw changes. Membership is well-balanced among management, union and plaintiff practitioners and is comprised of full-time benefits practitioners, academics, government attorneys, and lawyers who have a more general labor and employment practice but who deal with employee benefits issues frequently enough to benefit from committee membership and participation. The committee is responsible for the publication of Employee Benefits Law.

Employee Benefits Practitioner RE JCEB QAs

As previously announced, the Joint Committee on Employee Benefits (JCEB), an organization of the American Bar Association (ABA) coordinating the efforts of the employee benefits committees of six Sections of the ABA, will meet with various federal agencies in Washington, DC immediately before the May meeting of the Tax Section. Questions from the members of the employee benefits committees of the six sections participating in the JCEB will be discussed at the agency meetings.
