This committee is composed of attorneys with an interest in the field of art, cultural heritage, and cultural property law and who work in a variety of settings, including private practice, museums, government, and academia. This area of law is concerned with both movable and immovable property of artistic, cultural, religious and historic interest. Topics recently considered by the committee include the underwater cultural heritage, art works stolen during the Holocaust, ratification of the 1954 Hague Convention on the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict, and the impact of war on the cultural heritage of Iraq. Within a diverse field with often sharply differing opinions, the committee endeavors to represent a variety of perspectives and welcomes all with an interest in this timely and fascinating subject.
