The International Criminal Law Committee provides education, outreach, and advocacy in the areas of international criminal law, which includes the international aspects of criminal law, especially in countries such as the U.S., and criminal aspects of international law, such as law arising out of conventions, international organizations, international courts, and the like.
The coverage of the international aspects of substantive criminal law includes fraud, computer crimes, securities, trading commodities futures, antitrust, intellectual property crimes, customs crimes, export control crimes, environmental crimes, money laundering, organized crime, transnational corruption, terrorism, and taxation.
The coverage of the international aspects of procedural criminal law includes jurisdiction, evidence gathering, asset freezes and forfeiture, gaining custody (i.e., extradition and alternatives), transfer of proceedings, recognition and enforcement of judgments, and transfer of prisoners.
The coverage of criminal aspects of international law includes the efforts of international organizations to implement international law initiatives with criminal law components and the work of international criminal tribunals.
Monthly Committee Calls
We will hold monthly telephone conference calls with committee members on the last Tueady of each month (unless otherwise noted). Calls will occur at 6PM Eastern time. The schedule for 2009 is as follows:
