About the Committee

Members of this committee have a professional or personal interest in law and events concerning the Middle East. The geographic scope of this committee encompasses North Africa, the Arabian Gulf (including Yemen), Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Pakistan, Palestine, Sudan, Syria and Turkey. The committee maintains an active listserve and has organized panels for most recent Section events. It has also helped organize and support various Goal VIII/Rule of Law/judicial reform initiatives, including for Afghanistan, Iraq, Morocco and Tunisia.

Members of the committee, both American and international, are lawyers in private practice, corporate counsel, government lawyers, professors, human rights attorneys and students. Non-U.S. lawyers can participate in the Committee by becoming Foreign Associates of the ABA and joining the International Section and signing on to the Middle East Committee.

Be certain to sign on to the Middle East Committee.
