International Financial Products and Services Committee

International Financial Products and Services Committee

Message From The Chair

On behalf of our leadership team, welcome to the International Financial Products and Services Committee homepage. We hope that you will find the content useful. It includes our recently launched newsletter, program materials from past Committee programs, Year-in-Review articles and references to websites which we consider useful for our daily work in the field of financial products and services.

If you are not a member of the Section of International Law, we encourage you to join. If you are not a U.S.-qualified lawyer, do not worry! More than 10% of Section members are lawyers licensed in jurisdictions other than the United States. You can still join the ABA and the Section of International Law as an associate member, and become a leader and/or active member in the Section and/or our Committee (all without being a U.S.-qualified lawyer).

If you are a member of the Section but not a member of the International Financial Products and Services Committee, please consider joining. The Committee focuses on topical international legal, regulatory and supervisory issues related to international financial institutions, including firms that provide banking, capital markets, investment and insurance products and services. Topics of interest include: international and comparative regulation of products and services; compliance with anti-money laundering and terrorist financing laws; resolution of financial disputes; new developments in regulatory and capital schemes; and practical issues in advising international financial institutions.

In this environment, practitioners, regulators and legislators in many countries are finding it necessary to be knowledgeable and updated about the international aspects of these transactions. The Committee provides a unique forum for examining these issues from all perspectives (including practical, comparative, legislative and regulatory), on a country-specific, regional, global and always issue-focused basis. Our members have the opportunity to help set the Committee's direction, focus and agenda. We welcome all those who practice in this field or are otherwise interested in what is clearly a critical area of today's global marketplace. If you wish to join the Committee, sign up online using the link to the right.

Should you have any questions or would like to discuss any aspect of the Committee, please contact either of the Co-Chairs. We look forward to working with you in the development, growth and work of the Committee.

Regards,

Thomas A. Jones and Walter Stuber, Co-Chairs, International Financial Products and Services Committee, Finance Division, ABA Section of International Law
