Section of International Law:
Young Lawyers Interest Network

What is YIN About?

The Young Lawyers' Interest Network (YIN) provides networking opportunities for young practitioners living inside and outside the United States. YIN also exists to promote stronger relationships among young lawyer organizations worldwide.

YIN also assists young practitioners with acclimation to the legal profession, whether that may be relocating to a new locale, adjusting to life in the "real" legal world, or providing new cultural insights.

YIN provides its members and the legal community at large with social activities, as part of ABA International meetings and independent events, to meet and to share each other's experience as young legal practitioners.

Most importantly, however, to quote Immediate Past YIN Chair, Marcelo Bombau, "YIN is what its members choose it to be!" So, join us, and make YIN what YOU choose it to be!

Upcoming YIN Events

YIN Monthly Conference Calls: YIN holds conference calls on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 10:00 AM Eastern Time (U.S.) to discuss upcoming YIN activities. All YIN members are welcome and encouraged to join the call! Instructions for dialing in may be downloaded from this webpage (see Committee Resources), along with previous months' conference call minutes. (Skype Access: for those of you concerned about exhausting your mobile minutes, Skype may be used to access the conference call dial-in number.) Please contact YIN Co-Chairs Nancy Matos and/or Kiera Gans if you have questions or would like more information.

Section Committee Conference Calls: At least 20 other Section Committees hold monthly conference calls. This is your chance to find out what's going on in the committees, ask questions, and most importantly to your career development, get involved! The updated 2009-10 Section Committee Conference Call Schedule should be up at the end of September 2009. Please keep visiting the page for more information.

2010 Spring Meeting (April 13-17, Grand Hyatt, New York): YIN will be a co-sponsor of the Associates Boot Camp featuring the Fundamentals of International Practice, along with the Outreach Committee and the New York State Bar Association International Section. More details on this program will be forthcoming soon. If you have questions, then please contact Associates Boot Camp Director and YIN Vice-Chair Russell Dombrow at RWDombrow@gmail.com.

2010 Fall Meeting (November 2-6, Paris): The program proposal window for the 2010 Fall Meeting is now open! If you have an idea for a program and you would like YIN to co-sponsor it, then please submit your proposal to Co-Chairs Nancy Matos and Kiera Gans no later than December 4, 2009, for review and feedback before submission to the Planning Committee. The deadline for submitting program proposals to the 2010 Fall Meeting Planning Committee is December 18, 2009. This webpage has some great information on preparing a program proposal on the right-hand side of the page.

Nuts and Bolts of Commercial Bribery: YIN is preparing a Nuts & Bolts CLE Teleconference Program on Commercial Bribery to be held in early 2010. Keep checking back here and your e-mail for more information.

Have an event of interest to YIN? If you are participating, sponsoring, or just attending an event you think YIN members should know about, please e-mail YIN Vice-Chair Russell Dombrow if you'd like your event posted on the YIN webpage. (Note: YIN, however, reserves the right to restrict postings in accordance with ABA policies.)

Keep checking here for more information on what's happening with YIN!
