Nonprofit Organizations

Mission Statement

This Committee on Nonprofit Organizations focuses on the vast array of legal issues faced by the various kinds of nonprofit organizations whether private foundations, public charities, or noncharitable nonprofits. Examples include trade associations, religious organizations, museums, arts organizations, health care providers, schools, sports groups, condominium associations, and booster clubs. Although such organizations may differ widely in size and purpose, many share legal issues in common - including those related to governance and management; director and officer liability; fund-raising; lobbying restrictions; tax-exemption; volunteer and employee liability; and compliance with other laws. Through programs, publications and special projects, the Committee works to provide its members with useful information on legal issues confronting nonprofit organizations and their counsel.
