The Aircraft Financing Subcommittee had very successful meetings in Chicago with sessions on many international aviation issues, such as the role of the Export-Import Bank of the United States in aircraft financing transactions, the capital markets and financing of aircraft spare parts, ethical considerations and conflicts in aircraft financing transactions and implications of the European Community's accession to the Cape Town Convention.
The Subcommittee continued its focus on the implications of the adoption of the Cape Town Convention and its establishment of an International Registry for registration of interests in "aircraft objects" with a report from our representatives on the International Registry Advisory Board, a presentation relating to the power to dispose of assets and to transfer good title, and an update on issues relating to FAA and International Registry filings and opinions. We expect to continue this focus on Cape Town at the 2010 Business Law Section Spring Meeting, to be held in Denver at the Adam's Mark Hotel on April 22nd and 23rd.
In addition to our traditional subcommittee dinner to be held during the Denver meeting to socialize and enjoy the camaraderie of our members, we are exploring the possibility of adding an early session on the first day of our spring meetings that will be geared toward more junior practitioners and serve as a primer for the full group meetings to follow.
