Mission Statement

The Agricultural and Agri-Business Financing Subcommittee provides a forum for the discussion of emerging transactional and bankruptcy issues of importance for attorneys working with the agricultural industry.

Report of the Subcommittee Chair

The Agricultural and Agri-business Finance Subcommittee, in accordance with past practice, met and presented at the 2009 annual meeting of the American Agricultural Law Association in Williamsburg, Virginia on September 25-26, 2009.

Members of our Subcommittee lead three different presentations:

• Vice Chair Drew Theophilus lead a panel presentation on wind farms, with a focus on land use issues and recent developments in wind energy production and financing.
  
  
• Former Subcommittee Chairs Randy Wright, Brooke Schumm and Philip Kunkel spoke on bankruptcy issues in agricultural processing industries, focusing on the recent VeraSun Energy (ethanol) and Pilgrim's Pride (poultry processing) cases.
  
  
• Subcommittee Chair R. Lawrence Harris hosted a panel presentation on biosecurity issues
