The Government Affairs Practice Committee ("GAP Committee") is a professional committee for federal, state and provincial lobbyists and other government affairs practitioners, both in-house and in private practice.
The focus of the GAP Committee is to provide resources, networking opportunities and a forum to discuss issues related to the lobbying profession. The GAP Committee provides programming on best practices and issues confronting the government affairs professional within a corporation, a law firm, a trade association, a non-profit organization or a government agency. The GAP Committee is a source of information and information exchange about current rules and regulations on the lobbying profession, a forum for discussion of proposed changes to those rules and regulations, and a source of information generally to its members and to other substantive committees of the Business Law Section on emerging policy issues pertaining to lobbying and government affairs.
The GAP Committee held its first formal meeting at the 2009 ABA Annual Meeting. On an ongoing basis, the GAP Committee will meet at the Section's Annual Meeting, at the Fall Meeting in Washington, D.C. and perhaps in the future at a stand-alone meeting.
