The Section's Nominating Committee met on February 18, 2001, to nominate members for Council and officer positions. Chair-elect Prof. Ronald C. Smith of Chicago, Illinois, will automatically succeed as Section chairperson, in accordance with Section bylaws. Albert Krieger of Miami, Florida, who is vice-chair of planning, will automatically succeed as chair-elect. The slate of nominees is as follows:

• Vice-Chair for Planning: Michael Th. Johnson, county attorney in Concord, New Hampshire, is currently one of the Section's delegates to the ABA House of Delegates.
  
  
• Vice-Chair for Continuing Legal Education: Michael S. Pasano, a private defense lawyer from Miami, Florida. He currently serves in this position, having held it for one year.
  
  
• Vice-Chair for Governmental Affairs: Ronald Welch, a private defense lawyer from Washington, D.C., currently serves in this position, having held it for one year.
  
  
• Vice-Chair for Publications: Paul Rashkind, a federal public defender from Miami, Florida. He is currently a Council member whose three-year term expires August 2001.

NOMINEES FOR COUNCIL MEMBERS (THREE-YEAR TERMS):

• I. Matthew Campbell, deputy state's attorney from Columbia, Maryland. He was a Council member from 1997-2001.
  
  
• James Cole, a private defense attorney from Washington, D.C., was chair of the White Collar Crime Committee from 1998-2000.
  
  
• Charles Day, a federal magistrate judge from Maryland. He is currently chair of the Committee on Race and Racism in the Justice System.
  
  
• Alejandro Myaorkas is the U.S. attorney from Los Angeles, California, and has been active in the California regional chapter of the Section's White Collar Crime Committee.
  
  
• Sheila Murphy is a private lawyer from Chicago and retired circuit court judge in Cook County, Illinois. She was cochair of the Section's Committee on Women in Criminal Justice from 1998-2000.

NOMINEE TO COUNCIL AS YOUNG LAWYER LIAISON:

• Rachel Harmon is a lawyer with the U.S. Department of Justice's Civil Rights Division, Criminal Section, in Washington, D.C.
