Terry MacCarthy's Overview of Cross-Examination Techniques (audio)

Bart Daniel, pictured with Melanie Griffith (left) and Susannah Hubbell (right) held a welcoming reception at his law firm for all attendees of the 2008 Criminal Justice Section Spring Meeting.

Judge Mathew Perry, a legend in the South Carolina legal system, over saw Demonstration I of Direct and Cross-Examination. Other participants (from left-to-right) include William Witherspoon, I.S. Leevy Johnson, Anne Swern, Judge Ernestine Gray, CJS chair-elect Anthony Joseph, and Gary Walker.

Albert Krieger makes his point and leaves the witness Charleston School of Law student J.W. Lounsberry questioning his own account of events – much to the delight of the crowd – during Demonstration II of Direct and Cross-Examination.

Two prominent South Carolina jurists and longtime friends helped Section chair Stephen Saltzburg introduce Judge William Wilkins, as he received a lifetime achievement honor from the Criminal Justice Section. Terry MacCarthy uses a mix of antidotes, humor and obscure cultural references to make his practice tips clear during an overview of cross-examination techniques. An audio recording of his remarks can be found here.
