36th National Conference on Professional Responsibility

About the Conference

The ABA Center for Professional Responsibility invites you to join us for the 36th National Conference on Professional Responsibility at the Westin Seattle on June 2-5, 2010. The Conference will be held in conjunction with the 26th National Forum on Client Protection. Legal scholars, jurists and specialists in the professional responsibility field will gather for three days of intensive seminars covering a wide range of topics, including: ethical preparation of witnesses; conflicts; confidentiality and attorney-client privilege; the ethics of investigations; sanctions for trial conduct; SEC prosecutions of lawyers; prosecutors' special responsibilities under amended Rule 3.8; virtual law practice; and restrictions on the right to practice.

Attendees will honor the 2010 recipient of the prestigious ABA Michael Franck Professional Responsibility Award during a luncheon Thursday afternoon. The award is given to individuals whose career commitments in areas such as legal ethics, disciplinary enforcement and lawyer professionalism demonstrate the best accomplishments of lawyers.

On Friday afternoon, attendees are invited to participate in optional roundtable discussions including the work of the ABA Commission on Ethics 20/20, academic research projects and ideas, and ethics/risk management functions at a law firm or corporate law department, sponsored by the ABA Business Law Section Firm Counsel Project.

Networking receptions and breakfasts during the Conference allow you to catch up with old friends and meet new. And the Seattle restaurants and nightlife offer a variety of great food and entertainment for you to enjoy.

We look forward to seeing you!

CLE Credit

Required sponsor documentation has been forwarded to and credit requested from MCLE states with general requirements for all lawyers. Lawyers seeking credit in Pennsylvania must pay fees of $1.50 per credit hour directly to the Pennsylvania CLE Board. The ABA pays applicable fees in other states where the sponsor is required to do so and in states where a late fee may become applicable. Please be aware that each state has its own rules and regulations, including its definition of "CLE"; therefore, certain programs may not receive credit in some states. Contact the ABA Service Center toll free at 800-285-2221 or Ben Woodson at 312-988-5325 or woodsonb@staff.abanet.org for confirmation of the number of CLE credit hours requested by the ABA or credit approved by any particular state.
