Ethics and Technology Committee
The Center for Professional Responsibility Committee on Ethics and Technology was created to identify and study the professional responsibility issues that may (or may not) flow from the rapid development of technology in the legal workplace.
The Committee will discuss issues via a list serve, conference calls, and in-person meetings at ABA or Center for Professional Responsibility events as determined necessary. The Committee will examine and propose to Center Committees and Coordinating Council possible solutions to any problems identified, including suggestions for rules to regulate future development where indicated, along with possible non-rule guidelines to assist practitioners on topics such as integration of technology into the legal setting, using technology for lawyer/law firm marketing, metadata, confidentiality and privilege in electronic communication. The Committee may also host educational programs, write and submit articles for publication in Center and other ABA newsletters and magazines and develop Web resources.
Membership in the Committee is limited to members of the ABA Center for Professional Responsibility. To join send a message to the Center at cpr@abanet.org. Please include contact information and any ideas about topics you would like to see addressed by the committee.
