MINUTES OF MEETING The E-Commerce Committee met in person on Sunday, August 5, 2001, at the ABA Annual Meeting in Chicago. Those in attendance included Allen Samelson and Jonathan Shaffer, Co-Chairs of the Committee, Pat Wittie and Greg Ardmore, outgoing Co-Chairs of the Committee, Committee Vice Chairs Paul Van Maldeghem and Scott Pickens, as well as Hugh Bell, Bob Hoffman, Scott Livingston, Mike Love, Marty McAlwee, Bob Murphy, Aaron Silberman, Greg Smith and Karen Wilson. After brief introductions by the attendees, Committee members had a broad ranging discussion covering a number of different topics and possible projects for the coming year. The Committee addressed the following additional issues set forth below and assigned responsibility for reporting or follow-up, as indicated: 1. On August 4, 2001, the Section Council approved the draft letter to the FAR Council prepared by the E-commerce Committee based on the Committee’s FAR Review project. Allen Samelson will send the final version to Section Chair Norm Thorpe for submission to the FAR Council. 2. Rehabilitation Act, Section 508 requirements: monitor implementing regulations and possible adoption of a FAR clause – Aaron Silberman, Kimberly Heifetz. 3. Monitor DOD exception to Section 508 – Marty McAlwee 4. E-sign: determine status of FAR Council’s review of Section comments 5. Monitor E-government Act, S. 803, H.R. 2458 – Jonathan Shaffer 6. Coordinate with Strategic Alliances Committee regarding possible seminar and use of e-commerce in strategic alliances – Mike Love 7. Monitor GAO e-filing project – Bob Hoffman. 8. Monitor COFC e-filing project – Pat Wittie. 9. Possible seminar on use of e-procurement by state and local agencies – Allen Samelson. 10. Support to MPC Information Technology Committee regarding new regulations and use of electronic signatures – Scott Livingston 11. Monitor ABA UCITA Task Force – Jonathan Shaffer, Kimberly Heifetz. Scott Pickens has been appointed as the Section’s liaison to the Section Officers Committee on Technology, which may be the single point for the ABA’s position on UCITA. 12. Determine whether states are using e-commerce for both prescription drug purchases – Craig Othmer 13. Set up regular meeting schedule – Allen Samelson, Jonathan Shaffer |
