Committee Activities

Y2K-Request for information
The Public Contract Law Section, Emerging Issues Committee is seeking examples of non-standard federal, state or local government Year 2000 contract clauses, i.e. those that require that any information technology provided, operated, used or maintained by a contractor for a customer accurately process date and date-related data from, into and between the years 1999 and 2000 and perform leap year calculations. Clauses may be existing or proposed. The Section is also collecting information regarding the contracting processes used by governmental entities to insert such clauses into existing contract. Please send your responses to Donna Yesner, Piper & Marbury, dyesner@pipermar.com, fax 202 223-2085, or Lannie Elderkin, Computer Sciences Corporation, helderki@csc.com, Computer Sciences Corporation, 3170 Fairview Park Dr., Falls Church, VA 22042, Fax: 703.849.1015.

The next meeting of the Y2K Subcommittee will be on Friday, February 12, 1999 at noon at Piper & Marbury, 1200 19th Street, DC. The two items on the agenda are (1) a discussion of the attached draft language of a possible executive order which would fill in the gaps left by the Year 2000 Information Disclosure and Readiness Act for Government contract related civil actions, and (2) implementation of other committee projects. Lunch will be served for $7. Please let me know if you are planning on attending and for those of you outside Washington if you would like to attend by phone.
