Program Description

The Federal Trade Commission, together with other agencies, issued “Red Flag” regulations requiring the development and implementation of written identity theft prevention programs.  Under these rules, “Creditors” that have “Covered Accounts,” as these terms are defined in the regulations, are required to implement programs to prevent and detect identity theft.  The FTC now requires entities under its jurisdiction to have such programs in place by August 1, 2009.  There has been some debate in the healthcare field regarding the applicability of the Rule to physicians and other healthcare providers.

Our expert panel will discuss:

  1. the background regarding the regulations, including social, legislative, and regulatory history;
  2. applicability of the regulations and the current debate with respect to health care providers; and
  3. implementation requirements and experiences from providers who have already implemented identity theft prevention programs.

Join this program for an up-to-the-minute analysis of these critical regulations.
