The 2008 election season is rapidly approaching. The State and Local Government Law Section is committed to answering all of your questions concerning the election process and how to best represent a diverse population and issues surrounding their ability and access to vote.
Kristen Clarke will discuss the overview of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, as amended, with emphasis on 2006 Amendments to Section 5 Preclearance. Professor Jocelyn F. Benson will explain Section 203: The Language Minority Assistance provisions of Voting Rights Act, as amended by the VRARA of 2006. Meeting the Demands of a Growing Language Minority Population will be covered by
Terry M. Ao.
This CLE session includes an overview of the Voting Rights Act, Language Minorities, Voter Identification, and Voting and Immigration Law.
