Program Description

The Roe v. Wade decision is just as controversial as ever. “Pro-life” and “pro-choice” have infiltrated our society.  States have tried to regulate or define the rights enunciated in Roe out of existence.  The debate has extended to beyond abortion to such issues as birth control, safe sex, and sex education.  This battle is certain to play an important role in the 2008 elections.

Sarah Weddington, the attorney who won Roe v. Wade, will give listeners an historical view of the issues and will discuss how attacks on Roe to an increasingly receptive Supreme Court are not just about abortion and how those attacks affect all women and girls.

She will be joined by an expert panel of attorneys from the ACLU and Planned Parenthood who work with these issues on a daily basis.  Louise Melling, will discuss the impact of last term’s important reproductive rights cases and what is going on in the lower courts.  Ikeita Cantu Hinojosa will focus on public policy and legislative developments at the state and national level.

Attend this teleconference and live audio webcast to hear an in-depth discussion of the Roe v. Wade case, its continuing controversy, and why it should matter to all.
