Program Description
Medicare providers and suppliers nationwideand their legal counselmust start now to prepare for increasing Medicare auditing activity. Section 302 of the Tax Relief and Health Care Act of 2006 made the Recovery Audit Contractor (“RAC”) program permanent and required it to expand nationwide by no later than 2010.
This teleconference will provide the information Medicare providers and suppliers need to know about the permanent RAC program as it expands nationwide. This teleconference will include a discussion of key topics surrounding the RAC program, including:
- An overview of the RAC demonstration program and its results:
- An overview of the permanent RAC program, expansion timeline and an explanation of the differences between the RAC demonstration program and the permanent program;
- A discussion of the administrative systems and proactive compliance strategies Medicare providers and suppliers should implement now to be prepared for RAC audits; and
- A discussion of appeal strategies for Medicare providers and suppliers faced with RAC audits and denials.
