International events often dominate our daily news, and lawyers are becoming more involved overseas. This program will describe teaching opportunities that the participants have engaged in, primarily through the Central and East European Law Initiative (CEELI) sponsored by the ABA, and in Southern Africa by the International Senior Lawyers Project (ISLP), and the ABA’s Senior Lawyers Divisions (SLD). While these venues are not unique, they are illustrative of ways volunteer lawyers can contribute their services to address needs in different parts of the world.
Objectives include encouraging lawyers who call in to consider participating in teaching opportunities abroad, to enlist their help in subsequent communications with overseas law firms and companies which might be supportive, and to help sponsor organizations that seek funding for projects.
This free teleconference is privately supported by the Claude Moore Foundation of Virginia at no cost to the ABA. There will be no CLE credits. The number of lines available for call-in are limited and those who wish to sign up will be accepted on a first-come-first-served basis, with advance notification of acceptance.
