Program Description

This program will provide an overview of the financial building blocks necessary to prepare a family law case.  The program will focus on: the type of financial information needed whether representing a W-2 employee, self-employed spouse, or business executive. The panelists will also cover the tools and mechanisms available to obtain the required information and how to present financial information to educate and successfully represent your clients.

Program Faculty

Sharyn Sooho’s practice focuses exclusively on family law. She is the author of numerous articles and books on various aspects of divorce, including a fourth edition of How to File for Divorce in Massachusetts, scheduled for publication in late spring 2008. Ms. Sooho speaks frequently on divorce and has presented, produced, and moderated programs for the ABA Section of Family Law. She has been interviewed by numerous media outlets, such as the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, Money Magazine, USA Today, Boston Globe, Christian Science Monitor, the Daily Show, and CBS News.  She is co-founder and chief editorial partner of DivorceNet.com, a leading content site on family law. 

Jonathan Wolfe of Skoloff & Wolfe, P.C. in New Jersey, concentrates his practice on complex civil litigation with a focus in family law.  He represents clients in high asset divorces with a focus on business valuations, the treatment of trust assets in divorce, and the protection of non-marital assets. Prior to joining Skoloff & Wolfe, he was a member of Milbank Tweed Hadley & McCloy in New York where his practice focused on securities and business litigation. He is a frequent author and lecturer on a wide variety of issues in the family law field. Mr. Wolfe is a member of the ABA House of Delegates and will become a member of the ABA Board of Governors in 2008. He is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation and has been recognized by Law & Politics and New Jersey SuperLawyers as a “Rising Star” in 2006 and 2007.

CLE Credit*

1.5 hours of CLE credit in 60-minute states/1.8 hours of CLE credit in 50-minute states have been requested in states accrediting ABA teleconferences and live audio webcasts.*

NY-licensed attorneys: This non-transitional CLE program has been approved for experienced NY-licensed attorneys in accordance with the requirements of the New York State CLE Board for 1.5 total NY CLE credits.
