Probate is Dead—Or Is It?

Faculty Members:
There was a time when probate proceedings, often bogged down the disposition of estates and drained resources from them in the process, were feared almost as much as death itself. But in recent years, legal mechanisms have been introduced that make it possible to distribute larger portions of estates without subjecting them to probate. Another method being considered, is the transfer-on-death deed. This program will look at some of the key routes for bypassing probate and what considerations should come into play when deciding which ones will work best.
