At recent ABA programs, speakers have identified corruption as an insidious enemy of stable economic and political development in countries seeking to introduce democratic systems. It also creates a bind for U.S. companies doing business as they try to balance local mores with the demands of U.S. law. This audio program looks at the environment of corruption that exists in many places, how it affects legal systems, efforts to address it through both domestic law and international efforts, and how companies doing business overseas can avoid getting sucked in by corruption. Specific topics discussed include the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
