National Child Resource Center for Special Needs Adoption

The National Child Welfare Resource Center for Adoption (NCWRCA) assists States, Tribes and other federally funded child welfare agencies in building their capacity to ensure permanency for abused and neglected children through adoption and adoption preservation services. The Center specializes in providing technical assistance, with a focus on program planning, policy development and practice through consultation, training, information/research and resource materials aimed at supporting organizations in their efforts for continuous program improvement.


National Child Welfare Resource Center for Organizational Improvement

The National Child Welfare Resource Center for Organizational Improvement is a part of the Edmund S. Muskie School of Public Service, at the University of Southern Maine. The Center supports organizations committed to the welfare of children, youth and families through training, technical assistance, research and evaluation. We are one of seven national resource centers (NRCs) funded by the Children’s Bureau (CB), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. All the NRCs provide free, on-site training and technical assistance (T/TA) to State and Tribal child welfare agencies.


National Resource Center for Youth Development

The University of Oklahoma National Child Welfare Resource Center for Youth Development (NCWRCYD) increases the capacity and resources of States and Tribes to effectively help youth in care establish permanent connections and achieve successful transitions to adulthood. The Center can help States incorporate youth into all areas of programs and services, implement services that address legislative requirements, prepare for Child and Family Services Reviews (CFSR) and Program Improvement Plan (PIP) development, and implementation.


National Resource Center for Permanency Planning

The National Resource Center for Permanency Planning focuses on increasing the capacity and resources of State, Tribal, and other publicly supported child welfare agencies to promote family-centered practices that contribute to the safety, permanency, and well-being of children while meeting the needs of their families. The NRCFCPPP helps States and Tribes to implement strategies to expand knowledge, increase competencies, and change attitudes of child welfare professionals at all levels, with the goal of infusing family-centered principles and practices in their work with children, youth and families who enter the child welfare system.


National Resource Center for Respite and Crisis Care Services

The ARCH National Respite Network includes the National Respite Locator Service, a service to help caregivers and professionals locate respite services in their community,and the National Respite Coalition, a service that advocates for preserving and promoting respite in policy and programs at the national, state, and local levels. Respite is an important family preservation and family support service. Planned and crisis respite is a vital part of the continuum of family services intended to reduce family stress, support family stability, prevent abuse and neglect, and minimize the need for out-of-home placements.


National Resource Center for Child Protective Services

The National Resource Center for Child Protective Services (NRCCPS) mission is to build the capacity of State, local, Tribal and other publicly supported child welfare agencies to achieve safety, permanency and well-being for children and families. NRCCPS can assist your child welfare agency on this web site in the following ways. On site and off site technical assistance, communication, resources and information, SLO support and communication, program and practice guidelines, and staff development resources.
