Why?
I chose to work with an Attorney Search firm because:
I enjoy meeting with and counseling other attorneys in their job
search. I find it very rewarding to find the "right fit"
for a client's needs, especially if, at the same time, I am helping
someone further their own career in some way that is important
to him/her.
I chose to work for Major, Hagen & Africa because:
of their commitment to ethics. I truly believe that all of us
at Major, Hagen & Africa focus on "doing the right thing"
rather than simply making placements for the sake of making money.
We have a terrific client base that provides lots of challenges.
Advice and Tips for Lawyers Interested in Working in a Search
Firm:
Don't do it simply to escape practicing law. You need to really
love this business to survive the ups and downs. Do it if you
truly enjoy building relationships, counseling and helping make
the right match, not just any match.
Advice and Tips for Lawyers Interested in Being Placed by a
Search Firm:
Be completely honest with your recruiter. Keep control over your
search process, and be an active participant. Do your homework
not only on the search firm(s) you decide to use, but also on
the law firms/corporations we suggest to you.
How?
Career Path to Current Position:
Schiff, Hardin & Waite; Holleb & Coff.
Job Search Techniques Used in Finding Your Position(s):
From Schiff to Holleb, through a family friend. To Major, Hagen
& Africa, by calling Miriam Frank (Managing Partner in the
Chicago office) directly, as I had met with her during job search
from Schiff and remembered really connecting with her. Rest is
history.
Most Gratifying Placements:
Nearly all my in-house placements are the most rewarding for
me, especially if the candidate really wants to go in-house from
a law firm, or are taking a step up in responsibility, compensation.
