Bar Affiliations and Activities:
Mr. Outten was a founding member of the Executive Board of the National Employment Lawyers Association and was on that Board for more than eleven years; he is the founder and president of the New York affiliate of that organization. He is a Governor of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers. Among his other bar association affiliations, he is on the Council of the Section on Labor and Employment Law of the American Bar Association and was a co-chair of that Section's Committee on Employment Rights and Responsibilities and of the Regional Programs CLE Subcommittee. He is co-chair of the ADR Committee of the New York State Bar Association's Labor & Employment Law Section. He has been an active member of the Labor & Employment Law Committee of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York. He is president and co-founder of the National Employee Rights Institute and is a member of the Employment Disputes Committee of the CPR Institute for Dispute Resolution.
Recent Professional Publications:
Mr. Outten has lectured and written extensively on employment law, especially on negotiation and mediation of employment disputes, employment and severance agreements, and multinational employment issues. He is co-chair of the Georgetown University Law Center’s annual Employment Law & Litigation Update. His writings include The Rights of Employees and Union Members (S. Ill. Univ. Press, 2d edition 1994) and the "Privacy in the Employment Relationship" chapter in Privacy Law and Practice (Matthew Bender 1987).
