Mendes Hershman Student Writing Contest
The American Bar Association Section of Business Law sponsors an annual contest to encourage and reward law student writings on a business law subject of general and current interest. More

CLEO Fellow Scholarship

Each year, the Committee on Diversity, through the Section of Business Law, awards four to five $1,000 scholarships to CLEO Fellow Scholars. CLEO Fellow Scholars are selected based on an essay competition to attend the Section of Business Law Spring Meeting. More

Diversity Clerkship Program
The ABA Section of Business Law is accepting applications for its inaugural Business Law Minority Internship Program. The purpose of the program is to expose more students to business law and business courts and encourage students to consider a career in business law who might not otherwise consider it. These clerkship opportunities are aimed at qualified minority or otherwise disadvantaged candidates who have completed the equivalent of their first year of law school and who would be otherwise excluded from opportunities to practice business law. With the clerkships will come support and mentoring. More

Writing Contests

American College of Consumer Financial Services Lawyers
All J.D. or LL.M. candidates are eligible to submit a paper (published or unpublished) related to the area of consumer financial services law.

The American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, Mary Moers Wenig 2008 Student Writing Competition
All J.D. or LL.M. candidates are eligible to submit papers related to the areas of trusts and estates.

American Intellectual Property Law Association, Robert C. Watson Award
This contest recognizes the author of the best article relating to intellectual property written or published between July 1, 2007 and June 30, 2008.

American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, The Nathan Burkan Memorial Competition
Third year law students my submit papers relating to any aspect of Copyright Law for this competition.

College of Labor and Employment Lawyers, Inc., 2008 Law Student Writing Contest
Any current J.D. candidate may submit a paper on any aspect of public or private labor or employment law.

Journal of Business and Securities Law, Elliot A. Spoon Business Law Writing Competition
Any student at an ABA Accredited Law School is may submit a journal style article concerning business and/or securities law for this competition.

The Grammy Foundation Legal Writing Contest
J.D. Candidates at ABA Accredited Law Schools may submit papers on any aspect of the broad topic of entertainment law.

The Gaming Lawyer Forum, Shannon Bybee Scholarship Award
The Gaming Lawyer Forum is seeking papers dealing with gaming law written by any J.D. candidate.

International Technology Law Association, The Mark Gordon Writing Competition for Law Students
Any current law student may submit a Technology Law-related paper to this competition.

International Trademark Association, Ladas Memorial Award Official Rules
The student section of this competition is open to law students and graduate law students. Papers must be written on a topic relating to trademark law.

Louis Jackson National Student Writing Competition in Employment and Labor Law co-sponsored by Jackson Lewis LLP and Institute for Law and the Workplace Chicago-Kent College of Law Illinois Institute of Technology
This competition is open to all J.D. candidates submitting a paper on Labor and Employment Law.

University of Richmond Journal of Law & Technology
All full time law students are eligible for this competition. Papers submitted must be relating to Technology Law.

Section of Real Property, Probate and Trust Law
All law school students currently enrolled in an ABA-accredited law school are eligible for this competition. Submissions should be relating to real property probate and trust law.

Federal Bar Association, Section on Taxation
Papers must be submitted by full time law students and topics must concern Federal Income Taxation.

Association of Securities and Exchange Alumni, Inc.,
The writing competition awards program is available to students registered at an accredited degree-granting law school in the United States. Both undergraduate and graduate law students are eligible. The topic may be any subject in the field of securities law.

The Journal of the University of Iowa College of Law, Trandafir International Business Writing Competition
All students currently enrolled in law or graduate degree programs from any institution in the world may submit a paper on any topic of contemporary international business or economic concern with a legal nexus.

ABA Section of Antitrust Law
Papers must have been published previously in an article in a law review or legal journal that is sponsored by an ABA-accredited law school. Eligible articles must be written by a currently-enrolled student.

American Tax Policy Institute - The Tannenwald Writing Competition
Open to all J.D., L.L.M. and S.J.D. law students. Paper written on any federal or state tax topic.

The Customs and International Trade Bar Association and Brooklyn Law School, Andrew P. Vance Memorial Writing Competition
Entrants must be currently enrolled in a J.D. or L.L.M. program at any of the nation's law schools. Papers must be an in-depth analysis of a current issue relevant to customs and international trade law.

Attorney-CPA Foundation Essay Contest
Open to currently enrolled in a college or university as a candidate for a post-bachelor's degree, including M.B.A., Ph.D., or J.D.

Jones Day Antitrust Writing Contest
Contest open to students currently enrolled in full- or part-time juris doctorate or more advance degree programs at U.S. law schools accredited by AALS and non-U.S. schools of equivalent standing.

ABA Section of Labor & Employment Law - Labor Lawyer Student Writing Contest
Open to all students at all accredited law schools. Papers may be written on any topic in the field of labor and employment law.

The Uniform Law Commission's William J. Pierce Writing Contest
All law students are eligible to submit an original paper that addresses a uniform or model act, or an issue arising from a uniform or model act promulgated by ULC.

Employment, Internships, Fellowships and Grants

Skadden Fellowship
Open to law school graduates and outgoing judicial law clerks who want to work in the public interest.
