The 2007 National Conference for the Minority Lawyer will be held June 27-29, 2007 in Boston, MA. This unique two-day conference brings together minority lawyers from racial/ethnic groups, all practice settings, at all levels of experience, from all over the country. It showcases the talents and expertise of minority lawyers as practitioners, judges and academics. It provides a lively but comfortable environment where minority lawyers can network while learning from and sharing with each other. It presents cutting edge Continuing Legal Education (CLE) programs and explores the hottest topics related to diversity within the legal profession. It offers the most current and critical information and professional development that minority lawyers and law firms need to take back to their firms and clients.

About the National Conference for the Minority Lawyer
The National Conference for the Minority Lawyer is a collaborative effort between the ABA Commission on Racial and Ethnic Diversity and the ABA Section of Business Law. Additionally, other ABA entities -- including the Sections of Antitrust Law; Labor and Employment Law; Litigation; and Tort Trial and Insurance Practice; the General Practice, Solo and Small Firm Division, the Government and Public Sector Lawyers Division, the Young Lawyers Division, and the Forum Committee on Affordable Housing and Community Development Law -- join us to provide and enhance the substantive programming presented at the Conference.

The Commission on Racial and Ethnic Diversity in the Profession is a catalyst to change the legal profession to reflect the society it serves. The Commission helps racially and ethnically diverse lawyers advance their careers and standing in the profession; uses leadership, programs, and information to help the profession understand and eliminate racism, bigotry, and discrimination; and works to increase racial and ethnic diversity in the legal profession and enrich the profession through diversity.

The Section of Business Law consists of over 50,000 members from all over the country, including private practitioners, corporate counsel, judges and academics representing small and large firms, corporate law departments, academic institutions and the federal, state and local government. The Section sponsors more than 150 Continuing Legal Education programs annually and a number of programs are telecast to numerous sites around the country.

About Our National Conference Attendees
Approximately 400 lawyers will attend the 2007 National Conference for the Minority Lawyer. Based upon past trends, we expect that about 50% will come from New England and the Mid-Atlantic states and the other 50% from the rest of the country. We estimate that 60% will be African American or Black; 25% will be Asian American; 15% will be Hispanic; and 1% will be Native American. Roughly one-third of our attendees will have been in practice for 10 or more years; slightly less than a third will have been in practice 6 to 10 years; and slightly more than a third will have been in practice less than 5 years. About 85% of our attendees are in private practice.
