National Conference for the Minority Lawyer

2007 National Conference for the Minority Lawyer
    Boston, MA  June 28-29, 2007

Meeting Highlights

As in years past, the National Conference for the Minority Lawyer continues its commitment to providing stellar programming to meeting attendees. Below is a sample of this years programming:

Plenary sessions:

Affirmative Action in Law Firms: The Next Debate
A discussion of affirmative action in law firms between Richard Sander (whose recent law review articles asserting that affirmative action by law firms ultimately hinders the careers for minority lawyers have sparked such intense debate throughout the legal profession) and David Wilkins (one of the leading scholars on the careers of minority lawyers and Director of Harvard Law School's Program on the Legal Profession)

Race and the Roberts Court
An examination of the issues of race that are likely to face the Roberts Court in the coming years with Charles J. Ogletree, Jr., head of the Charles Hamilton Houston Institute for Race and Justice at the Harvard Law School.

Friday Luncheon:

On Becoming a Leader: Minority Lawyers and their Vision for the Future
What is in the future for minority lawyers? More importantly, what would we hope that future to be? Much will depend on the leadership of minority lawyers themselves, both in the legal profession and in their communities. In our closing lunch, we will hear the personal stories of leading lawyers, who will inspire us with the leadership they have demonstrated in their careers and their visions for the future.
