Meeting Highlights


Section Luncheon

Justice Steele The Annual Section Luncheon will be held on Monday, August 13. This year we are excited to have Chief Justice Steele as our luncheon speaker. Seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets are still available and can be purchased onsite at the Section's Satellite Registration Desk at the Fairmont Hotel.

Registration Fee

The registration fee is $440 (before May 31, 2007; $570 afterwards) for ABA Members. This fee includes the following:
  • Admission to business meetings
  • Admission to the ABA EXPO
  • Shuttle bus transportation between official ABA Hotels
  • All-Access CLE Badge giving you access to all CLE and non-accredited meetings and programs including those in the Presidential CLE Centre (Moscone West Convention Center) and at the satellite hotels
  • Admission to the Opening Assembly and the Silver Gavel Awards Program
  • Printed Annual Meeting Program
All-Access CLE Badge — This badge is included when you register as an ABA member for $440. This badge can be used for admittance to governance meetings, non-CLE programs and ALL CLE programs at the Annual Meeting, including those in the Presidential CLE Centre and at the satellite hotels.

Members whose primary focus at the Annual Meeting is governance, and who may only be able to attend a few CLE programs, can register for the Annual Meeting for a fee of $165*, which includes admittance to all governance and non-CLE programs, and purchase individual CLE program tickets for $75 each. Discounted CLE program tickets will be available to registered government lawyers and judges for $35. Law Student registrants will be admitted to all CLE programs at no additional charge. Admittance to each CLE program will require one individual CLE program ticket OR the All-Access CLE Badge. Registration for non-ABA Members is $775.

To purchase the All-Access CLE Badge or the individual CLE program tickets, go to www.abanet.org/annual/2007. In order to earn CLE credit for programs attended at the 2007 Annual Meeting, you must be registered for the meeting. Guests are not eligible to earn CLE credit at the Annual Meeting.

ABA Expo

The ABA Expo is an exclusive opportunity to visit more than 100 providers of dynamic legal products and services. These companies will showcase the latest in communications, legal publishing, computer hardware and software, and financial services - all in one convenient place and with today's law practice in mind. During the 2007 Annual Meeting, the ABA EXPO will be located at the Moscone West Convention Center from Thursday, August 9, through Saturday, August 11.

Opening Assembly

The Opening Assembly will be held on Saturday, August 11, at 5:30 p.m. at Davies Symphony Hall. The Opening Assembly is free of charge to all registrants and registered guests. The President's Reception will immediately follow the Opening Assembly at the Moscone West Convention Center.

Section Council Meeting

The Section Officers, Council and Committee Chairs will meet in open session on Saturday, August 11, 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m; all Section Members are welcome to attend.

Section Welcome Reception

The Section Welcome Reception will be held on Saturday, August 11, from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at the beautifully appointed Fairmont San Francisco Hotel. Join familiar Section of Business Law colleagues and meet new ones at this wonderful event. Relax and revitalize as you unwind from the events of the day at this elegant event. Cocktails and entertainment will be provided. Admission is free to registered attendees and their guests.

President's Reception

The President's Reception will be held on Saturday, August 11, from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. immediately following the Opening Assembly, at the Moscone West Convention Center. Section of Business Law members are encouraged to attend this always-delightful extravaganza. The reception will feature hors d'oeuvres and open bars, as well as entertainment. Be sure to register and buy your tickets early for what is sure to be one of the most memorable events of the 2007 Annual Meeting!

Business Card Diversity Networking Reception

The Committee on Diversity is proud to host a complimentary reception for all Annual Meeting attendees on Sunday, August 12, from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. We welcome all attendees who share our vision and are interested in recruiting and retaining lawyers of color, women lawyers, lawyers with disabilities, gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender lawyers, young lawyers, and law students for active involvement in the Section. Learn how to navigate the vast array of the Section's resources and meet experts in your field. Or, just come to network and reacquaint with old friends and colleagues. We look forward to seeing you there.

Pro Bono Breakfast

Join the Committee on Pro Bono from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. on Monday, August 13, at its Pro Bono Breakfast. The Pro Bono Breakfast is an Annual Meeting tradition and is open to all meeting attendees at no charge. Breakfast speakers present their unique perspectives on the role of business lawyers in providing legal services that directly or indirectly help the poor. Section members are invited to attend the Committee on Pro Bono meeting, which immediately follows the breakfast.
