Fall in the air? Yes, but it’s also time to nominate

Whom do you think should be nominated for a leadership position in the Section?

The Nominating Committee of the Business Law Section needs your recommendations for leadership positions for the 2000-2001 association year. Nominees will be selected for:

• Chair-elect (who automatically assumes the position of chair the following year)

• Secretary (who automatically assumes the position of vice-chair the following year)

• Five additional Council members for a term expiring in 2004

• One Section delegate to the ABA House of Delegates for a term expiring in 2003

Historically, the preceding year’s vice-chair has been nominated to serve as chair-elect the following year.

The Business Law Section recognizes that members of the Section represent unique backgrounds and bring a variety of valuable skills and perspectives. This diversity is a strength for the Section. We believe that the leadership also should reflect a spirit of inclusiveness and diversity. In light of this, the Nominating Committee will take into account the following principles in making its selections. It will:

• select nominees who have been substantial and active contributors to the Section.

• seek geographic diversity in the leadership of the Section.

• strive for representation from a broad cross-section of the areas of law represented in the Section

• seek to draw leaders from a broad cross-section of the various sectors of practice, including corporate law departments, government, academia and private law firms.

• actively recruit nominees who reflect the different dimensions of diversity in the Section.

The following officers and Council members already have been elected to serve during the 2000-2001 year:

Chair: Amelia H. Boss, Philadelphia

Vice-chair: Harold S. Barron, Blue Bell, Pa.

Section delegates to the ABA House of Delegates: Barbara Mendel Mayden, Nashville, Tenn.; Frank R. Morris Jr. Columbus, Ohio; M. Peter Moser, Baltimore; and Myles V. Lynk, Washington
