Spring Meeting speaker announced
The Spring Meeting Section luncheon speaker is always on the leading edge of his or her business arena. Section honored for diversity initiatives
The Section was recently applauded for its efforts to encourage the participation of women and minorities in Section activities. Both the Commission on Women in the Profession and the Commission on Opportunities for Minorities in the Profession named the Section to their respective honor rolls in the recently released GOAL IX Report Cards. Business Law is the only section to be named to both lists congratulations to the Diversity Committee and Section leaders!
At its Midwinter Meeting, the Section Council adopted a Diversity Plan that will serve as a road map to assist and encourage the members and leaders of the Section to ensure full and equal participation for lawyers of color, women lawyers and younger lawyers. The Sections Nominating Committee has proposed a slate of names for officers and Council positions to be elected at the Annual Meeting in Atlanta:
- For chair-elect of the Section for a one-year term: Amelia H. Boss, Philadelphia
- For secretary of the Section for a one-year term: Harold S. Barron, Blue Bell, Pa.
- For Section delegates to the ABA House of Delegates for three-year terms ending in 2002: M. Peter Moser, Baltimore and Myles V. Lynk, Washington.
- For Council members for four-year terms ending 2003: Deborah L. Fletcher, Charlotte, N.C.; James J. Hanks Jr., Baltimore; Thurston R. Moore, Richmond, Va.; Karen L. Shapiro, Newark, N.J.; and Edwin E. Smith, Boston.
- For Council member to complete the unexpired term of John W. Martin Jr., ending 2002: Mary Beth M. Clary, Naples, Fla.
