University of Maryland calendar of Brown commemorative events, including a February 25 book signing with Mary Frances Berry and DeWayne Wickham and "With All Deliberate Speed: Considering Brown v. Board of Education: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow," a day-long community/scholar dialogue (April 16, 2004).




Baltimore

Brown vs. Board: 50 years of history...

Event: "First" Annual Law Day
Date: May 13, 2004
Time: 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Place: West Baltimore Middle School, Baltimore, MD

Maryland state judges and lawyers will visit the school and talk to different classrooms about the impact of Brown from a national, local and personal perspective. They will also unveil a "Who Wants To Be a Millionaire" styled-game on the Brown case.

Highlight: Assembly—The Honorable Robert Bell, Chief Judge Maryland Court of Appeals, will be the guest speaker at the assembly speaking on the topic, an 8th-grader will give her (and her colleagues') perspective on the Brown case and the students will present a staged reading of the Brown Foundation's commissioned play "Now Let Me Fly."


Montgomery County

50th Anniversary Observance of Brown v. Board
The Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) is planning a number of activities in commemoration of the Brown anniversary in the county and around the state, including a bus tour of historic Maryland "hot spots" affected by Brown, community forums, and a conference at Hood College in Frederick, "Looking Back Forward: The Unfinished Business of Brown v. Board of Education."
