BAR ASSOCIATIONS' RESPONSE
TO CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AD CAMPAIGN
|
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has unveiled an ad campaign aimed at undermining
public confidence in American judges and the legal system. The campaign
includes two separate ads, one that has run in national newspapers like
the New York Times, the Washington Times, the Wall Street Journal, and
another that has run in newspapers in Illinois, West Virginia, California
and Mississippi.
The American Bar Association has responded with the following items, which we encourage you to use in response to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's ads or similar ads by state and local chambers of commerce:
- An Open Letter from ABA President Dennis W. Archer to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce [PDF]
- An op-ed from ABA President Dennis W. Archer to newspapers known to have printed the ads [HTML]
- Talking points to use in response to the chamber's ads [HTML] [MS Word]
- A sample letter to the editor to help bar leaders respond in their
local papers [HTML] [MS Word]
Have you seen the Chamber of Commerce's ads in your paper? If so, we encourage
you to send the name of the newspaper and the date of ad
to Damien LaVera in ABA
Division of Media Relations.
