The ALA has 100 chapters throughout the United States, Canada and 28 other countries.
The Association of Legal Administrators is seeking an executive director. The ALA promotes the competence and professionalism of all members of the legal management team, and improves the quality of management in law firms and other legal service organizations.
Duties
Key responsibilities include:
  • Maintaining a membership-focused culture in the organization;
  • Establishing and maintaining a sound organizational structure;
  • Helping develop the association's image and brand;
  • Overseeing human resources;
  • Implementing a periodic strategic planning process; and
  • Acting as the association's comptroller, supervising all financial affairs
Qualifications
  • Eight years as executive director/CEO or senior management professional of a professional association, preferably of a legal orientation
  • Law degree preferred
  • Familiarity with managing a professional association under a policy governance system essential
  • Experience or expertise in law firm administration and management highly desirable
  • Strong leadership qualities and professional presence essential

The Ohio State Bar Foundation, the charitable arm of the Ohio State Bar Association, is seeking an executive director. The foundation advances the philanthropic interests of Ohio's lawyers to recognize excellence, improve the justice system and enhance public understanding of the law.
Duties
The OSBF executive director reports to the executive director of the OSBA, a voluntary state bar association with approximately 25,000 members, and to a board of trustees. Key responsibilities include:
  • Promoting the OSBF and its mission;
  • Recommending programs and initiatives; and
  • Overseeing foundation grantmaking, awards, programs, publication, membership, and development.
