About the Division for Bar Services

The ABA Division for Bar Services is organized under four objectives:

  • To serve as the primary communications link between the ABA and other bar associations
  • To provide staff support and/or liaison for key bar-related organizations
  • To provide education, training and management support services for bar leaders
  • To serve as coordinating agency for ABA services to bar associations.

The Standing Committee on Bar Activities and Services provides leadership and oversees operation for the Division for Bar Services.

Staff also is available to assist with the development of bar leadership conferences.

Benefits of a field service visit:

  • Expanded pool of resources
  • Discussion focused on your bar association's activities and priorities
  • Information on best practices and program models
  • Direct contact with ABA staff specialists and connection to ABA resources

Support for Pakistani Lawyers

The poor treatment of lawyers in Pakistan and the suspension of that country's Supreme Court is a threat to the rule of law in our world. This situation has prompted many state, local, and specialty bar associations to issue statements and plan events in support of their colleagues in Pakistan. Read more about this here.

On Dec. 13, ABA President Bill Neukom will present a petition signed by concerned lawyers and judges to Pakistan’s Ambassador in Washington, D.C. All bar leaders are asked to add their name to that petition and encourage their members to sign it, too. “Sign” the petition electronically at http://www.abavideonews.org/ABA495/sign.php.
