November-December 2009 highlights

Community spirit: Members are busy, but bars help them connect

Even in these busy times, many lawyers still yearn to feel connected with other lawyers, and with something larger. Learn how some bars are using mentoring programs, social events, and communications tools-both old and new-to build a sense of belonging at the bar.

Awards for exemplary programs and professional excellence

Did you miss the NABE/NCBP/NCBF Annual Meeting? Here's a recap of who won many of the awards presented this past July.

Bar leaders share ideas on how to help lawyers in a tough economy

It's no secret that lawyers across the country have been rocked by firm closings, job loss, and other byproducts of the ongoing economic crisis. Bar leaders at the NABE/NCBP/NCBF Annual Meeting shared some of their best ideas on how to help bar members and, in many cases, members of the general public, too.

Diners, menus, and service

William R. Bay, new chair of the ABA Standing Committee on Bar Activities and Services, has a favorite spot where they keep the coffee coming and know how he likes his eggs. That's the level of service you can expect from the Division for Bar Services and the standing committee, too. Whether it's program ideas, president's page topics, or some other type of assistance, you'll always find someone eager and ready to fill your cup.
