Dr. Addanki has worked widely in three areas: antitrust analysis,
the economics of intellectual property, and the evaluation of
commercial damages.
Dr. Addanki's antitrust experience includes analysis of a number
of mergers in a wide range of industries, including consumer goods,
computer software, electronic components, financial services,
hardware, health care, life sciences, retailing, tobacco, transportation
and many others. He has also addressed liability and damage issues
in cases involving allegations of predatory pricing, monopolization,
tying and other antitrust violations, in a variety of industries.
He has worked on patent, trade dress and trade secret cases in
a broad range of industries: agricultural equipment, computer
hardware and software, construction machinery, food packaging
equipment, footwear, medical equipment, and semiconductors, among
others. While many of these matters involved the evaluation of
damages, many others involved antitrust issues arising out of
the acquisition or exploitation of intellectual property.
In addition to his damages work in patent and intellectual property
cases, he has calculated economic damages in several cases involving
allegations of breach of contract, fraud, misrepresentation, and
other commercial damage claims in a wide variety of industries.
He has also studied commodity futures markets in cases involving
alleged manipulation.
Dr. Addanki has appeared before Federal courts and antitrust
enforcement agencies. He has participated in state Insurance Commission
proceedings and advised state regulatory bodies about the antitrust
implications of transactions in the health care and health insurance
industry. His articles on intellectual property and antitrust
issues have appeared in many publications, including the Journal
of Proprietary Rights, Licensing Journal, European Competition
Law Review, and manuals and reprints published by the American
Bar Association, the Licensing Executives Society and the Practicing
Law Institute. He has also written a statistical package for use
on microcomputers and has taught economics at the graduate and
undergraduate levels. Dr. Addanki earned his Ph.D. in Economics
from Harvard University.
