The popular International Cartel Workshop co-sponsored with the International Bar Association.
Continuing the Workshop's tradition of instruction-by-demonstration, an experienced faculty from around the globe will take Workshop participants deeper than ever before inside a hypothetical international cartel matter. The Workshop will address everything from cartel detection, to coordinated government investigations across multiple jurisdictions, to consideration of cooperating with the enforcers, to disposition of government prosecutions or claims, as well as the litigation and potential settlement of private damages claims on behalf of direct and indirect purchasers in the United States, Canada and elsewhere.
In 2010, the Workshop is also expanding its demonstration of critical interactions between counsel and enforcers, and expanding the geographic scope of enforcers participating in the conference. The 2010 Workshop faculty will include 75 of the most accomplished cartel attorneys in the world, including:
- Senior cartel enforcement officials from particularly active jurisdictions, including Australia, Brazil, Canada, the European Union, Japan, Korea, the United Kingdom and the United States;
- Judges and economists with extensive experience in cartel matters;
- Over 40 experienced cartel defense practitioners from 8 countries; and
- Leading members of the plaintiffs’ bar from the United States, Canada and Europe.
The Workshop will also feature:
- New demonstrations related to responding to Dawn Raids and Search Warrants, confidential exploration of immunity applications with front-line officials at leading enforcement agencies, evaluation of the potential extraterritorial reach of domestic competition laws, and working with expert economists in connection with such issues as class certification and private damage estimation;
- Luncheon roundtable discussions with experienced members of the judiciary from Australia, the European Union and the United States, as well as with the heads of competition law enforcement authorities from eight countries; and
- Opportunities to meet and speak with faculty and other leading practitioners about recent cartel enforcement developments around the globe.
