NB: From the Editor

WELCOME to the March issue of The Antitrust Source. Published bi-monthly, The Source is your on-line connection to the latest information and commentary in the world of antitrust. Each issue features up-to-the-minute analysis and insight on the most timely topics in antitrust by leading practitioners, economists, academics, and government officials.

In this issue, we are pleased to feature an interview with Deborah Platt Majoras, Chairman of the Federal Trade Commission. In one of her first print interviews since assuming the Chairmanship in August 2004, Ms. Majoras candidly talks about her goals and priorities for merger and non-merger enforcement, as well as her enforcement objectives in the increasingly global area of consumer protection.

In addition to our interview with Chairman Majoras, this issue offers articles on the latest cases and regulatory agency developments, as well as on longstanding concerns that span decades, including: a provocative perspective on the importance of intrabrand competition; a panel discussion on coordinated effects analysis after the ArchCoal decision; an assessment of the new "non-corporate interest" rules under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act; an analysis of the effects of the curious case of Stolt-Nielsen v. U.S. on corporate leniency; a review of empirical facts and their role in informing the debate on market analysis in pharmaceutical cases; and of course our regular review of antitrust literature and scholarship, The Paper Trail.

If there is something you think we should cover or you have something you'd like us to publish, send it to us at antitrust@att.net.
