Testimonials

The 2005 Antitrust Litigation Course was one of the most useful antitrust programs I have attended in my career.  As an in-house lawyer, I have to jump from one area of antitrust compliance to another, and seldom get an opportunity to become immersed in any of them.  The Antitrust Litigation Course was a wonderful opportunity for me to go back to my litigation roots and get a valuable refresher in civil litigation.  The “start to finish” antitrust case discussion pulled all of the essential elements of litigation together in a way that mere presentations could not.  The commentary by the expert faculty identified the primary issues at each stage of any civil antitrust litigation and really fleshed out the key strategic issues.  The icing on the cake for me was being able to meet and interact with a fantastic group of seasoned antitrust professionals from all over the U.S. - Stephen Donovan, Chief Counsel – Antitrust, International Paper Company

The program was based on realistic hypotheticals and simulations of every aspect of the litigation process.  I thought the presenters were expert and well prepared.  Very worthwhile for practical insights about new developments. - Mary Erin Mariani, DuPont Legal

About the Program

The Antitrust Litigation Course is an intensive two-day program modeled on the International Cartel Conference and the Antitrust Masters Course, both of which are given every two years. The format is very practical – a simulation of the most important aspects of a major antitrust case: class certification, summary judgment, opening statement, direct and cross of plaintiff and defendant economists, direct and cross of plaintiff and defense principal fact witnesses, and summation. Each segment will be followed by expert commentary and by audience question and answer. We are very pleased to have two federal Judges participate, one on each day. A mock jury will be present for the trial portion of the program on the second day and the audience will be able to follow their deliberation.

This approach captures, in the civil litigation context, the best facets of the Section’s International Cartel Conference and Antitrust Masters Course. Like the Cartel Conference, role-playing is the format. Great lawyers make arguments and examine witnesses on the basis of a set of facts that parallel real world antitrust litigation. And, like the Antitrust Masters Course, this event will be “full immersion.” We hope you join us and find the conference to be very enjoyable and educational.
