June 2007 Consumer Protection Update (July 9, 2007)

This telephonic brown bag program will summarize the significant developments in consumer protection law that occurred during June 2007. The presentation will cover cases, settlements, and other initiatives at the federal and state levels, as well as consumer class actions, Lanham Act litigation, and National Advertising Division case decisions.

This program is a monthly series of brown bags in which individuals can call in and hear consumer protection practitioners report on the previous month’s developments. The update portion of the program will last approximately 30-40 minutes and will be followed by Q&A. The PowerPoint presentation will be emailed prior to the call so that participants can follow along and view the advertising that is the subject of the panel’s discussion.

A different law firm will present the Consumer Protection Update each month. The Bingham McCutchen LLP will provide this month’s update, with the following panel of presenters:

Daniel Savrin
Melissa Liazos

July 2007 Privacy Update (July 16, 2007)

The world of privacy and information security changes rapidly – sometimes daily – and keeping up with legislative, regulatory, enforcement and litigation developments can be a daunting task. To provide a regular forum for discussing new privacy and data security happenings, the Section's Privacy and Information Security Committee together with the Corporate Counseling Committee has launched a monthly Privacy Update. This brown bag program will explore recent legislation, noteworthy enforcement activity, market news and general privacy happenings of interest.

The July program will be the ninth in a continuing monthly series, each hosted and presented by a different firm. This month, Wildman, Harrold, Allen & Dixon LLP will present the update. Ryan Sulkin and Justine Young Gottshall will speak. The program will be moderated by Mary Ellen Callahan of Hogan & Hartson, a member of the committee.
