The ABA Antitrust Section’s Trial Practice Committee, the Iowa State Bar Association, and the Minnesota State Bar Association present:

Inside an Antitrust Trial: the View from Behind the Bench and Inside the Jury Room in the Iowa Microsoft Trial

Date: Tuesday, October 16, 2007

Time: 12:00 Noon to 2:00 p.m. CST

Location: Dorsey & Whitney LLP,
801 Grand Avenue, Suite 3900
Des Moines, Iowa 50309

Antitrust cases rarely go to trial, but for the second time in three years, a jury has been impaneled in an indirect-purchaser antitrust case. This time it was Comes v Microsoft, which was tried in Iowa’s Polk County District Court for several weeks before the parties settled the case. In this program, the presiding judge (Hon. Scott Rosenberg) will provide background on the case and some of the rules and practices he followed for the trial. Then we will hear selected jurors respond to questions about the trial – what they liked, what trial themes came through, and more.
