General Information

Each year, the ALA presents awards in the following categories:

Law-Related Education Teacher of the Year Awards

Purpose: To recognize elementary, middle and high school teachers who have made outstanding contributions to law-related education.

Award: Three Alice Carr Scholarship Awards of $1,000 each

Deadline: April 10, 2007

Lifetime Achievement Award

Purpose: To recognize a member who has shown exemplary dedication over an extended period of time to the American Lawyers Auxiliary.

Award: An appropriate memento will be given the honored member or members. This award may be presented at the Annual or Mid-Year Meeting.

Deadline: Submit nominations no less than three months before the Annual or Mid-Year Meeting

The listings below provide a brief summary of the awards available and include chairs, deadlines, and monetary amounts when applicable. Awards will be presented at the ALA Midyear Meeting in February 2007, in Miami, FL.

Outstanding Individual Volunteer Award

Purpose: To recognize an individual ALA member who most effectively increases member and public understanding of law and the American legal system.

Award: Life Membership to ALA ($300)
Deadline: November 12, 2006
