4000 Annual Awards

  1. Subcommittee on Outstanding Government Service
  2. Every year the Section presents an award to a government attorney for outstanding public service. It is named to honor Mary C. Lawton, a former member of the Council of the Section, who exemplified the qualities the Section celebrates in the award. The Subcommittee on Outstanding Government Service solicits and receives nominations for the award each year and makes a recommendation to the Section Council at the Annual Meeting.

  3. Subcommittee on Scholarship

The Subcommittee on Scholarship reviews scholarly writings in the field of administrative law and selects the author of the outstanding piece for this annual award for scholarship in the field of administrative law and regulatory practice.

Each year this Committee selects Senior Fellows and Fellows of the Section. The Senior Fellow award recognizes and honors service to the Section and important contributions to the field of administrative law. Those honored as Senior Fellows include the Honorable Stephen Breyer, Professor Clark Byse, the Honorable Stephen Williams, the Honorable Patricia Wald and the Honorable Richard Cudahy. Fellows are recognized for their past and current dedication and commitment to the work of the Section.
